When thinking about locations for a recent photoshoot, we wanted to have somewhere suitably photogenic and very Scottish. How lucky we were then to be offered the use of the beautiful gardens at Prestonfield House, a striking historic hotel in Edinburgh.
Nestling below Arthur’s Seat, a short distance from the city centre, the current building dates back to late the 1600s. Designed by the same architect as nearby Holyrood House, the house was filled with paintings, furniture and tapestries from around the world, some of which remain in the property today. Sixty years ago, the house became the Prestonfield Hotel and since then it has become one of Edinburgh’s most luxurious and popular destinations.
They call themselves the most glamorous hotel in town and we can happily say that they are not wrong. We used several stunning locations around the beautiful 20 acre gardens to showcase our Scottish products and we could have happily stayed on for the rest of day soaking up the sun with a cold glass of something on one of their sunny terraces. Sadly, we had more photos to shoot back in the studio, but we’ll definitely be back another day – without our ‘work hats’ on!
