Say hello to the Arran, the newest Harris Tweed tote bag from Dunmore Scotland.
The Arran is a long-handled version of our extremely popular Ailsa bucket tote. Several customers had asked us to do a version that they could wear over their shoulder and when our customers ask, we listen! The Arran also has a leather closer to keep the top of the bag securely shut when you want it to be.
We are launching the Arran tote in a variety of our signature bright Harris Tweeds. Each tweed is woven by hand in the Outer Hebrides and we source it directly from the individual weavers. The bags are then made in Scotland and sent to you from our base in the Scottish Borders.
We will be producing tartan versions in due course and the Arran design is also joining our bespoke range – if you want the bag in a particular tartan and we can source it, we’ll make it for you! Click here for more details.
And you might ask – why did we call it Arran? Our most recent new designs have been named after Scottish islands – the Orkney satchel, the Shetland tote – so we wanted to continue with that theme. The Ailsa is named after Ailsa Craig, a small island off the west coast of Scotland and the island of Arran is the next island along, almost like Ailsa Craig’s big sister. We look upon this bag as the Ailsa’s big sister so therefore it just had to be Arran!
